Cyber Security Awareness month happens in October each year. It is a national public awareness campaign intended to help educate Canadians about the importance of cybersecurity and how to protect themselves online.

- Protect yourself by using these cybersecurity best practices:
- Use strong passwords.
- Use multifactor authentication.
- Regularly backup data.
- Keep software and applications up to date.
- Lock devices when unattended.
- Avoid giving out personal information online or on the phone.
- Be aware of different types of phishing methods, such as vishing, smishing and spear-phishing.
- Be wary of emails from unknown senders.
- Verify that an email is from a trusted source before clicking on links or downloading files.
